Call for papers

Scope

The European Conference on Software Architecture (ECSA) is the premier European conference providing researchers, practitioners, and educators with a platform to present and discuss the most recent, innovative and significant findings and experiences in the field of Software Architecture.

Venue

The 7th ECSA will be held in Montpellier, France, colocated with ECOOP 2013 and ECMFA 2013 in a unique gathering in software related trends. The joint organization of these key conferences provides a unique opportunity to gather practitioners and researchers on software architecture, modelling and development.

Theme

ECSA 2013 seeks submissions of original papers describing basic and applied research, novel applications, research challenges and experience reports on all topics related to software architecture, including, but not limited to:
- architecture description, modelling, languages,
- reference architectures, architectural styles, patterns,
- architectural decisions, architectural knowledge,
- architecture analysis, validation, verification,
- architecture transformation, refinement, implementation,
- architecture evolution, variability,
- architecture reengineering, recovery,
- architecture for reconfigurable, adaptive systems,
- architecture conformance, run-time monitoring, autonomic management,
- architecture for systems-of-systems, complex systems, critical systems, networked systems,
- software tools/environments for software architecture,
- processes, methods, techniques and tools for architecture-centric software engineering,
- architecture-centric model driven engineering,
- requirements engineering and software architectures,
- quality attributes and extra-functional properties for software architecture,
- service-oriented architecture, component-based architecture, service discovery, composition, orchestration, choreography,
- technology and frameworks supporting software architecture,
- industrial applications, case studies, best practices and experience reports.

Submissions

ECSA 2013 seeks three types of submissions to foster the active participation of researchers and practitioners:

  • Full research papers and Experience papers (max. 16 pages in LNCS style) which describe novel contributions to software architecture research (submissions should cover work that has a sound scientific/technological basis and has been validated).
  • Emerging research papers (max. 8 pages in LNCS style) which present promising preliminary results from work-in-progress in a topic of software architecture research (submissions should cover work that has a sound basis, but perhaps has not been validated in full).
  • Research challenge papers (max. 4 pages in LNCS style) which present significant research challenges in theory or practice of software architecture (submissions should clearly present the research questions and their rationale).

All submitted papers will undergo a rigorous peer review process, and be selected based on originality, quality, soundness and relevance. All accepted papers will appear in the conference proceedings published by Springer-Verlag as part of the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series. The submissions should be prepared using the Springer LNCS style and submitted via EasyChair here: https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=ecsa2013

In addition, authors of best papers will be invited to submit revised and extended versions of their papers for the Special Issue "Advanced Architectures for the Future Generation of Software-Intensive Systems" in the Elsevier journal Future Generation Computer Systems (IF 1.978): http://www.journals.elsevier.com/future-generation-computer-systems/
